Lottery bumper draw Sept 2013

Congratulations to the winners of the bumper draw. The first prize was £200.

Institute Cottage Sold

The trustees are pleased to announce the sale of Institute Cottage. The proceeds make a significant contribution in fundraising for the new hall.

October Fundraising Update – Sponsored Walk

Forty members and friends of the village were sponsored to raise funds for the Village Hall. They walked either the short circuit through Eynsford and Farningham or the long circuit to Otford via Romney Street returning through Shoreham. All enjoyed the sights and worked up an appetite for the barbecue provided by Norman’s with bread from Mark The Baker. Total funds raised were close to £3,000 and the record by one person was £417 – well done Molly! Sponsorship is still open. There are prizes for the most raised by an adult and by a junior. Many thanks to the walkers and to those who assisted. If you would like a copy of the walk map – please get in touch using the website contact form. James Staniland

September Update

The Trustees are pleased to say that Institute Cottage is again under offer and we hope that, this time, the sale will proceed after two previous abortive sales. It is pleasing that the prospective purchaser wishes to refurbish the property as existing and use it as their home rather than demolish it and redevelop the site. This gives us a welcome boost to our funds for the new hall, to be added to the money pledged by the Parish Council, plus generous contributions from a number of hall users, and continuing sums raised from events organised by the Trustees and others. Once the sale has completed, we will be nearly a third of the way to raising the £1.1m needed for the hall. The money raised will also lend credence to our applications to grant making bodies as it will show that the project is viable and has the support of residents. You support is vital to the success so any further information in respect of fund raising projects or possible grant organisations will be welcomed.
